Enjoy - Develop - Compete

Competition Programme

Our Ethos & Philosophy

Our mission statement is to Enjoy-Develop-Compete. Regardless of what age or stage of player you are, as coaches we will strive to help you achieve your potential through our philosophy of Enjoy-Develop-Compete.

We treat all players with equal respect, with a growing programme of players, some players will require more connected time with our team in-order to reach their individual targets.

In order to excel at this difficult sport, i would encourage all players to be self-learners, practice as much as they can outside of squad and 1-2-1 lesson times and look to have regular match-play and learn from your match experiences. Head Coach Phil

Competition Sponsor for 2020 / 2021 seasons is Hawthorne HCR

Phil is a qulaified LTA ABTO R4 referee and regularly hosts his popular Glamorgan Open series of LTA tournaments of grade 4 to grade 5 or grade 6 tournaments on the LTA national website.

Phil rotates his age group events on the Glamorgan Open events, this year has seen some doubles events as well as the popular mini & yellow ball singles events.

The club has an ideal location to host events and Phil’s “Glamorgan Open series” of events are normally full.

The club is set in a quiet area north of Cardiff with good easy road links to the m4. The club has 3 artificial clay courts, 4 tiger turf and 3 hard courts, along with a lovely club-house with all the facilities from a bar, kitchen and toilets / shower’s etc, visiting players are always impressed and we have a big retention of players from across the severn bridge and as far as London and the midlands.

I hope to see you soon at one of my Glamorgan Open events at Radyr.

As a former player i know the value to compete, and i believe every established club / centre with a quality coaching programme should be providing a competition platform that allows its homegrown players to compete. Playing tennis is competing and it is important for players to gain experience on the match court and to figure out how to win their matches.

Competing is a life skill and even at a young age winning is not everything but putting junior & adult players into a position of challenge reveals a players character.

I offer a service of individual tournament programming for players of all ages and stages.

Come and be part of our Radyr tennis club and receive some top tuition that will transform your game!
